How Often Should You Do Lymphatic Drainage Massage? A Beginner’s Guide

If you’ve tried lymphatic drainage massage and loved how light, de-bloated, or energised you felt afterward—you’re probably wondering, “How often should I be doing this?”

You’re not alone. At The Body Roll Studio in Takapuna, this is one of the most common questions we get from first-timers. So here’s a simple guide to help you figure out the best routine for your body and your goals.

First: It’s Different for Everyone

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The right frequency depends on:

  • Your wellness goals

  • How your body responds

  • What’s going on in your life (stress, travel, hormones, etc.)

That said, we do have some general recommendations based on what we see work best for our clients.

If You’re New or Feeling Bloated:

1–2 sessions per week for 2–4 weeks

This is a great starting point to:

  • Reduce water retention

  • Support lymphatic flow

  • Help your body reset and feel lighter

Consistency is key in the beginning—especially if you’re feeling sluggish, inflamed, or puffy.

If You’re in Maintenance Mode:

1 session per week or fortnight

Once your body starts to feel more balanced, many clients shift into a regular rhythm to:

  • Stay de-bloated

  • Support energy levels

  • Keep things flowing

It’s a great way to stay ahead of tension, inflammation, and that “blah” feeling.

If You’re Prepping for an Event:

2–3 sessions the week before your event

Whether it’s a wedding, photoshoot, or vacation, body rolling is amazing for:

  • Decreasing puffiness

  • Helping you feel sculpted + glowy

  • Getting that extra boost of confidence before your big day

(Pro tip: Book these in advance—they fill fast!)

If You’re Pairing It With EMS or Sauna Bag:

Alternate or stack your sessions

Many of our clients combine body rolling with EMS muscle sculpting or our infrared sauna bag. You can:

  • Alternate treatments across the week

  • Stack them in one visit for a full sculpt + recover session

It all depends on your schedule and how your body feels.

FAQ

Q: Can I do lymphatic massage every day?

We don’t recommend daily sessions—you need time to rest between treatments. 1–3 times a week is plenty for most people.

Q: How will I know it’s working?

You may notice reduced bloating, more energy, or better sleep. Some people feel it after one session—others after a few.

Q: What if I skip a week?

No worries! It’s not all or nothing. Just pick up where you left off and stay consistent over time.
